With all the odds dragging the match toward a draw, Team India dug deep and carved out the best possible method to put life into the rain-affected Test match in Kanpur. On Day 4 of the India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test, the India batters showcased a kind of play that is not usually associated with the longest format of cricket. However, Rohit Sharma and co. had victory in sight, therefore, it was worth the risk. While wickets kept falling at regular intervals, the batters never put the guard up and in the process put 285/9 after just 34.4 overs. Rohit Sharma decided to declare at the score, taking the onus of establishing a victory with a 52-run lead. En route to the score, Team India broke many records. It managed to construct the fastest-ever team 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 in Tests.

Decision to send Pant above Kohli did not land well with Gavaskar

Buoyed by the exceptional effort by the batsmen, bowlers complemented them on Day 5 as they restricted Bangladesh to a meagre score of 146, leaving a wee 95 for India to chase. Team India chased the total with 7 wickets in hand, concluding the series with a score line of 2-0. Though the match could have gone either way, everything fell in the right place for Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir .

As team India is attracting plaudits from all around the world for securing a win even after the curtailment from weather, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has pointed out a blemish in the victory. According to Gavaskar, sending Rishabh Pant above Virat Kohli at the 4th place on Day 4 was not a fair call. The legendary India batsman did not shy away from highlighting the record of Virat Kohli batting at 4.

"You are talking about a man who got almost 9,000 runs in Test cricket batting at No. 4,"  Gavaskar said on Jio Cinema.

The hunch of sending Pant above Kohli did not fetch an ideal result as the wicket-keeper batsman held out after scoring an 11-ball 9 runs. Pant's wicket eventually brought Virat Kohli to the crease at number 5. He played a breezy innings of 47 in 35 balls.
