Lockie Ferguson gets maiden Test call-up against England, ends long wait

Nearly three years after making his debut for New Zealand in the limited-overs formats, Lockie Ferguson earned his maiden call-up to the Test side for the upcoming series against England. Lockie Ferguson, over the years, has become an instrumental part of the Black Caps bowling attack and was seen playing a key role in the recently concluded World Cup in which he picked up 21 scalps. Lockie Ferguson has played 42 1st class games and has picked up an impressive 153 wickets since he began playing in 2013.

The New Zealand speedster spoke about his role in the team and said that he was responsible for sizing up the batsman with his extra pace. Lockie Ferguson also spoke about how he used different tactics on the field to bowl varieties that help the batsman misjudge his deliveries. Lockie Ferguson was second to Mitchell Starc in the World Cup for picking the most number of wickets. Ferguson believes that international cricket has been an 'awesome' year for pacers and said that he felt really good to be a part of the pacer attack and take scalps. Lockie Ferguson aims to create trouble for the batsmen in Tests using his sheer pace and said that he had to maintain a fine balance between pace and accuracy.
