Mayank Agarwal once again proved why he is India's most reliable opening batsman in Test cricket after his spectacular knock against Bangladesh in the first Test at Indore's Holkar Stadium on Friday. Mayank registered the second double century of his Test career and that too with a huge six as India continue to gain command in the ongoing Test match. The young opener was involved in some crucial partnerships with Cheteshwar Pujara (54) and Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane (86) on his way towards yet another incredible innings. He was also hailed by the fans on social media.
Fans hail Mayank Agarwal's special knock
After Mayank Agarwal had scored yet another double century, the fans came forward to hail his brilliant knock on social media. Here are some of the reactions.
Indian batsmen continue to pile up runs on Day 2
It was a tiring day for the Bangladesh bowlers as they were smashed to all corners of the ground by the Indian batsmen. Even though they got rid of skipper Virat Kohli for a duck, they failed to rediscover their rhythm as Mayank Agarwal took India to a commanding position. The visitors could have dismissed Agarwal on Day 1 itself if Imrul Kayes had not dropped him at slips when he was batting on 32. Eventually, it proved to be very expensive as the opening batsman made the most of his reprieve. He went on to score a 330-ball 243 which included 28 boundaries and eight maximums. His magnificent innings came to an end when he was caught by Abu Jayed off Mehidy Hasan. Nonetheless, it was too late by then as his stellar knock helped India take their lead over 300. So far, Abu Jayed has been the only silver lining in the dark cloud for Bangladesh as he managed to pick up four wickets.
