Mayank Agarwal captains India A in Shubman Gill’s absence as the batter is replaced by Pratham Singh

Shubman Gill, opening batter for India A, led the team as captain in their first-round Duleep Trophy encounter against India B. September 5 to September 8's four-day event happened in Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium. India A lost the game by 76 runs; Gill struggled to have a major influence and scored 25 and 21 in his two innings.

Gill, 25, will miss the second-round Duleep Trophy game for India A as he has been chosen for the Indian team for the next Test series against Bangladesh . Rather, the captain for the following game against India D would be Karnataka opener Mayank Agarwal. September 12 to September 15's Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur is set for this game.

Agarwal, a right-handed 33-year-old hitter, too had a poor first round Duleep Trophy performance. Before Navdeep Saini removed him in the first innings, he ran 36 runs. In the second innings, he fell for only three runs off left-arm pacer Yash Dayal.

The India A team has chosen Pratham Singh to replace Shubman Gill for the second Duleep Trophy round. Gill's national obligations have rendered him absent this round.

With 29 first-class matches under his belt, Pratham Singh, 32, gives the squad great experience. Including one century and eleven fifties, he has compiled 1,568 runs at an average of 35.63. Especially, he performed remarkably 169* against Tripura in a Ranji Trophy game earlier this year.

Apart from Gill, numerous other important players will also be missing from the second-round match. None of KL Rahul , Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav, or Akash Deep will be taking part. Their substitutes are Akshay Wadkar from Vidarbha CA for Rahul, SK Rasheed from Andhra CA for Jurel, Mumbai's left-arm spinner Shams Mulani for Kuldeep, and Aaqib Khan from UPCA for Akash Deep.
