Former India captain Mohamm Azharuddin has filed his mination for president's post in Hyderab Cricket Association (HCA) which will hold its elections on September 27. Azharuddin, whose mination was unceremoniously rejected two years ago, submitted his papers to former Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath on Wednesday. "I want to take inputs from everybody and work for promoting cricket. I want to do something for districts also (towards growth of cricket)," Azharuddin told PTI. Vikram Man Singh, son of former cricket ministrator P R Man Singh, has submitted his mination for vice-president's post.

Those who filed minations include Ajmal As (secretary), P Srinivas (joint secretary), G Srinivas (treasurer) and P Anurha (councilor). panel for election will be anunced after withdrawal of minations on September 23, sources said. It is understood that election bid of Azharuddin, Vikram, and ors has backing of former cricketers and ministrators Arsh Ayub and Shivlal Yav. Azharuddin's mination paper for HCA president's post was rejected in 2017 by returning officer on grounds that he failed to produce proof of BCCI lifting ban imposed on him for his alleged involvement in match-fixing. Election officials h also said n that re was clarity on wher Azharuddin was an eligible voter form club he currently represents.

BCCI state associations seek Amicus intervention

This includes likes of Sourav Ganguly, who hes Cricket Association of Bengal, and Gujarat Cricket Association Joint Secretary Jay Shah. "Both Sourav and Shah have 10 months left as per six-year tenure clause. But working committee tenure rules m out immediately. Does CoA really intend to hold elections or delay it? We h put processes in place. What do we do w?" asked a former BCCI secretary and state unit veteran while talking to PTI on conditions of anymity. It is learnt that more than 10 state units have approached Amicus Curiae PS Narsimha seeking his intervention and directions on issue. At least 25 state units have alrey set ball rolling for elections and new directive is threatening to cats a show on proceedings. "At least 10 state units have contacted Amicus and we want a quick solution as we want to have elections. But if working committee is factored in, we would have to draw a fresh voters' list," he said.
