Playing against India seems to have brought out the best in Michael Vaughan. The Englishman scored a beautiful 195 in the first innings of the fourth Test played at the Kennington Oval. His innings, which consisted of 29 fours, put on display some impressive cricket. It took all of Zaheer Khan’s might and fast pace to get him out. By then, England has posed an imposing score of 515 for visitors. Unfortunately for the Englishmen, Vaughn’s knock did not get them over the victory line – thanks to 'The Wall' Rahul Dravid, who hit a double ton in 468 balls to ensure the match ended in a draw.

183 (278), Australia Vs. England – 2003 Ashes
Any cricket fan worth his salt is familiar with the Australia-England Ashes rivalry. In the 5th Test of the Ashes series, Vaughan had a forgettable first innings outing. He was dismissed for a duck by Brett Lee, whose fast delivery nicked his bat and was caught by Adam Gilchrist. However, Vaughan showed the cricketing world that he was made of sterner stuff when he came back strong in the second innings. He scored a stunning 183 of 278 balls. His spectacular century in the second innings ensured England’s win against Aussies in front of a packed Sydney Cricket Ground. While Australia may have won the series, Vaughan won the hearts of cricket fans with his performance and was aptly named the 'Player of the Match.'
