Mitchell Starc had turned out to be the leader of Australia’s bowling attack during World Cup 2015 and was a huge success. But, post that, injuries kept hindering his ODI and T20I career. He didn’t play ODIs regularly for the team until the 50 over mega-event that was held in England and Wales.

Coming into the 2019 World Cup, Starc was not considered to be that effective as he had not played ODIs regularly to manage his workload. But contrary to everyone's expectations, he was at his very best as he ended the tournament as the leading wicket-taker with 27 wickets to his name, including two five-wicket and four-wicket hauls.
