Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024: The India tour of Australia is currently one of the most awaited cricket series. The India vs Australia Test series will decide the futures of both teams as far as their fortunes in the World Test Championship is concerned. India and Australia are both on the top two positions of the WTC 2025 Points Table, but India's recent 2-0 series loss against the Kiwis at home has dented their hopes of taking the field at the iconic Lord's next year.

Mohammad Shami Apologizes To BCCI

There were a lot of speculations around Mohammad Shami and his fitness. The star India pace bowler has been out of the senior team due to issues with his knee. Shami last for the Indian Team in the finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup Finals. Since then, Shami has been nursing his injury and is going through rehab process at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) In Pune.

Before the start of the India vs New Zealand series, Rohit Sharma had said that the Indian pacer had swelling in his knees and was running a race against time to get fit before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But it seems that all is not well with Shami's injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), recently announced India's squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but Shami was not included in it. After the squad announcement, Shami took to his Instagram account and shared a heartfelt post.

'Putting in my efforts and getting better with my bowling fitness day-by-day. Will continue working hard towards getting ready for the match and to play domestic red ball cricket. Sorry to all cricket fans and bcci too, but very soon I’m ready to play red ball cricket , love you all', wrote Shami.

Team India's Hopes Of Playing WTC Finals Dented

Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir 's Team India looked as clear favourites to play the WTC Final next year in Lord's, but their dismal performance against New Zealand has dented their hopes. After the 2-0 series loss against New Zealand, India have to win four out of their remaining six matches which includes five away Test matches, that is to be played against Australia.
