However, it seems that fans eager to see Morne Morkel in action during the upcoming white-ball series in Sri Lanka will have to wait a bit longer. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Sairaj Bahutule from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as the interim bowling coach for this tour. Bahutule’s role is temporary, limited to the series in the island nation.

Morne Morkel is expected to join the Indian cricket team before the Tests against Bangladesh. The reports suggest that the former South African pacer is visiting his ill father and hence won't be able to join the team for the Sri Lanka series.

In addition to Morkel's anticipated arrival, Gautam Gambhir has also recommended Abhishek Nayar and Ryan Ten Doeschate for the roles of assistant coaches. This duo is expected to join the Indian team before the Sri Lanka tour, with an official announcement anticipated soon.
