Ex-Australian Star Who Rejected Playing For RCB In IPL 2011 Makes A Shocking Career Switch

IPL is one of the biggest franchise leagues of the world, but there are few Australian players in the past who have refused to participate in it

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has nurtured many youngsters over the past decade. The toughest and the biggest franchise cricket league has completely transformed the game of cricket and how it is played. The IPL has been going on for seventeen seasons and each of them have been bigger and better than the previous editions. But there have been many overseas players who have refused to play in the biggest cricket league, despite being picked by the franchises.

Former Aussie Pacer Makes A Shocking Career Switch

Australians and the IPL, it is one beautiful story. Though there are stars like Glenn Maxwell, David Warner, Andrew Symonds, Travis Head and others who have set the IPL on fire in the past, there are also stars such as Mitchell Starc and Nathan Bracken who have refused to play the IPL despite being picked. Nathan Bracken contributed to many memorable Australian victories, but now, the Australian pacer is completely unrecognizable.

Bracken was picked up the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2011 for a whopping INR 1.3 crores, but he later turned down the offer and refrained himself from playing the Indian Premier League that season. Nathan Bracken was somebody who used to trouble India's Virender Sehwag and also got him out on seven different occasions. But the 45-year-old is now reportedly working as an Account Manager.

Bracken also ran for the Liberal candidate for The Entrance electorate in 2023. Everybody, who saw Bracken remember him for his free flowing run up and long locks. The Aussie quick who was a master of slower balls was also the second-fastest bowler to reach 100 ODI wickets - behind only two legendary players: Shane Warne and Dennis Lillee.

Nathan Bracken's International Career

Recurring injuries forced Bracken to take early retirement from the game in 2011. The Aussie quick represented his nation in over 130 international matches across formats and took over 200 wickets.
