Navdeep Saini Recreates Balwinder Singh Sandhu's Iconic 1983 World Cup Final Ball In Duleep Trophy

Ace pacer Navdeep Saini recreated the iconic Balwinder Singh Sandhu ball to Gordon Greenidge in the 1983 World Cup final during their Duleep Trophy fixture.

India B emerged victorious over India A in their Duleep Trophy 2024 fixture by 76 runs after excellent performances from Rishabh Pant , Sarfaraz Khan, Yash Dayal and Navdeep Saini. 

However, during day 3 of the encounter India B ace pacer Navdeep Saini bowled an amazing delivery which mirrored the iconic ball India's legendary pacer Balwinder Singh Sandhu bowled to knock over Gordon Greenidge in India's 1983 World Cup victory over over West Indies.

On Day 3 of Duleep Trophy, Navdeep Saini bowled a worldie to clean bowl Shubman Gill and leave him stunned. In an epic ball, Navdip Saini bowled way the line of way outside the off stump but the ball swung in and Shubman Gill left the bowl only for it to take the bails of his stump off. 

As soon as Saini bowled the delivery, everyone remembered the iconic ball Balwinder Singh Sandhu bowled to Gordon Greenidge in 83 World Cup final to win the nation its first ever ODI World Cup

India B down India A

KL Rahul 's gumption, which helped him pile a patient fifty, found no resonance among his colleagues as India B pacers led by Yash Dayal pushed India A to a 76-run defeat on the fourth and final day of their Duleep Trophy match here on Sunday.

Chasing 275, India A were bundled out for 198 in their second innings as left-arm seamer Dayal (3/50), with able support from his colleagues Mukesh Kumar (2/50) and Navdeep Saini (2/41), led the India B attack.

Pacer Akash, whom Sarfaraz Khan carted around for five fours in a row the previous day, found his mojo to add the scalps of Washington Sundar and Saini to complete a five-wicket haul (5/56).

The spell will keep his name floating among the contenders when the selectors sit together soon to pick up squad for two-match Test series against Bangladesh .
