Nepal gets reinstated by ICC on a conditional basis after suspension
As Nepal gets reinstated by the ICC following their 2016 suspension, let's take a look at the rise of the cricket-crazy nation in international cricket so far.

In a recently-concluded ICC board meeting, governing body reinstated Nepal and Zimbabwe as full ICC members. Nepal were suspended in 2016 by cricket governing body for breach of ICC regulations which prohibits government interference and requires fair elections. Election of a 17-member central working committee for Cricket Association of Nepal earlier this month paved way for ir re-mittance to ICC full members.
ICC Chairman Shashank Mahar said, “Given progress me in Nepal, a transition plan will w be developed for Cricket Association of Nepal to support full compliance with Associate Membership criteria, which will also involve controlled funding," he was quoted as saying by ANI.

ICC membership
Nepal became an ICC Associate member in 1996. same year, Nepal cricket team participated in a 12-team ACC Trophy tournament in Kuala Lumpur. However, South Asian country finished event at fourth position in Group A, winning just two of ir five matches. Among all Associate members, Nepal has one of biggest fan followings for sport.

T20I status
Nepal were awarded T20I status by ICC on June 28, 2014. y also participated in 2014 ICC World Twenty20 held in Banglesh. Nepal, however, failed to qualify for Super 10’s as y were kcked out of tournament in first st itself. Later that same year, Nepal cricket team contested in ir first-ever full-fledged T20I series against Hong Kong.

ODI debut
In March 2018, Nepal team w claimed One Day International (ODI) status after ir performance in 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. y faced Nerlands for ir first-ever ODI match which was held at VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen on August 1, 2018. Since n, cricket team has played ar five ODI matches with ir latest one coming against UAE at ICC Acemy Ground earlier this year. After gaining ICC status in both limited-overs formats, Nepal cricketer Paras Khka said that w his team is looking to gain Test status, which cricketer believes will take somewhere around eight to ten years to achieve.
