Rohit Sharma put up ar spectacular show in third test match between India and South Africa as he tched up his maiden test double century on second day in Ranchi, on Sunday, October 20. Sharma reached milestone in style as he struck a fantastic six off Lungi Ngidi on first ball of 88th over. Sharma who came out all guns blazing on second day looked determined to score a 'daddy' hundred but had to wait as umpires called for lunch just after he reached 199. Playing his first series as India's test opener, Sharma has ensured to secure his berth as test opener after a brilliant first match in series where he scored a century in both innings.

Twitter soon exploded with praises for Sharma's double century. Netizens also compared his batting style with former Indian opener Virender Sehwag and considered his kck as a tribute to Sehwag who turned 41 on Sunday. Cricket expert Harsha Bhogle also tweeted about Rohit's double ton and said that it was career-defining kck by batsmen and hopefully re are more centuries on way.

Resuming Day two after rain forced an early halt on Day one, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane began day with positive intent as y rotated strike and took quick singles. South Africa's attempt to rattle Indian batting line-up with a renewed pace attack on a fresh day did t stop Sharma-Rahane duo from marching on ahead, as Rahane tched up his century whereas Sharma scored 212 off 255 balls before losing his wicket to Lungi Ngidi. At end of 96 overs, India scored 393 for 5 wickets with Ravindra Jadeja and Wriddhiman Saha on crease.
