'Never seen Rohit so emotional in 15 years': Kohli opens up on the emotional overflow after WC final

At the felicitation ceremony, Kohli reminisced about the win and opened up on seeing a welled-up Rohit Sharma for the first time in his life.

Virat Kohli opens up on the emotional overdrive after India's historic World Cup win

As Team India came out at the Wankhede Stadium amidst screams and cheers, Virat Kohli revealed how the feelings had gone into overdrive and that he had never seen Rohit Sharma getting so emotional in their decade-and-a-half-old association with the Indian National Cricket Team.

"This is the first time in 15 years that I have seen Rohit show so much emotion. When we were climbing those steps (at Kensington Oval) he was crying and I was crying.  I hope we (Rohit and I) have carried the burden and no better to bring it (the trophy) back here (Wankhede).

"Halfway through the game I knew it was time and let the next generation take over. I couldn't connect with the emotions of the senior players who cried that night but now I do," said Kohli.
