There has been a lot of speculation around Mr. Cool - Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s retirement. Many started speculating that the semifinal against New Zealand that the Men in Blue lost will be Dhoni’s last match in Indian colours. The wicket-keeper batsman’s longtime friend and business partner Arun Pandey said on Friday that Dhoni has no immediate plans on retiring.

"He has no immediate plans to retire. The constant speculation over the future of a great player like him is unfortunate," said Pandey

Pandey’s comments have come to light before Team India’s squad selection for the West Indies tour. Dhoni has ruled himself out of the upcoming West Indies tour, there are rumors that the selection committee might make a call on Dhoni’s future. BCCI officials are most likely to speak to the 2011 World Cup-winning captain.

Pandey has been Dhoni’s confidant for a long time and also manages Dhoni’s business interests besides heading Rhiti Sports, a sports management company.

Post the World Cup the selectors will be looking at the future of the Men in Blue and with Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan in the wings, Dhoni might not be an obvious choice as the young lads have to start making regular appearances to be ready for bigger challenges in the future.

The speculation surrounding Dhoni's retirement is only growing by the day with many of his countless fans wanting him to carry on while some questioning his abilities as a batsman.

Dhoni has captained India to titles in all major ICC events -- World Cup, World T20 and Champions Trophy.

His latest international innings of 50 ended in vain as India faced a heart-wrenching loss. For 1.3 billion people, their hopes of the Men in Blue returning home victorious ended as he was run out with a brilliant direct hit from the deep by New Zealand opener Martin Guptill. Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja had brought back India into the game with a 116-run stand after they were reeling at 24 for four chasing 240.

Ranchi’s son Dhoni has now played in Indian colors in 350 ODIs, 90 Tests and 98 T20 Internationals. He has amassed 10,773 ODI runs at an average of over 50 while in Test cricket, Dhoni accumulated 4876 runs at 38.09.
