According to a report in a leading media publication, Syed Ali Zahid Bokhari – who is a lawyer by profession – has filed the petition against the appointment of Misbah as head-coach and chief selector of the Pakistan National Team.
In his application, the petitioner has mentioned that the performance of Pakistan which recently lost the T20I series against Sri Lanka will get worse if Misbah continues to be the Pakistan head coach. He further asked the court to pass a stay order and restrain the respondent from working immediately.

However, the court told the petitioner that it does not have the right to decide who should play and who should not. But the judge sent a notice to the PCB and expects a reply by next week. In his main petition, the lawyer had mentioned that Misbah had no experience which is required to coach a team.

Misbah's appointment to please the PM?
Misbah’s appointment as the head coach who replaced Mickey Arthur had been made secretly without considering his merit. Imran Khan and Misbah are distant maternal cousins and that the PCB had appointed Misbah as the coach to please Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Pakistan faced an embarrassing loss against a second-string Sri Lankan side in the three-match T20I series where they were whitewashed which has raised a lot of questions on their team management. Misbah's first stint as the coach of Pakistan team did not go as he would have expected. Following this humiliating loss, PCB sacked Sarfaraz Ahmed as captain in Test and T20Is. Azhar Ali was named the captain of the Test side whereas Babar Azam was named the captain of the T20I side.
