Pakistani cricket icon Shahid Afridi donates essential items to needy amid COVID-19 crisis

Amid the coronavirus crisis, Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi on Thursday, April 9, donated ration to around 500 families through 'Donate Karo Na' drive.

Amid coronavirus crisis across globe, Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi on Thursday, April 9, donated ration to around 500 families under 'Donate Karo Na' drive. According to reports, drive was organised by Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF). Furr, foundation had teamed up with Karachi Sports Forum (KSF) to provide ration to families in need. 

Taking to Twitter, cricketer thanked Commissioner of Malakand Division for organising drive. Afridi also posted a few pictures from drive. Meanwhile, although drive was a success, people reportedly failed to obey social distancing measures after distribution. Along with it, in one of pictures that he has posted on Twitter, Afridi can be seen without a mask.

Coronavirus in Pakistan

As per latest reports, re are 4,489 cases of coronavirus in Pakistan and around 65 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported to date. Meanwhile, at present, re are around 1,577,783 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across globe which has led to death of around 93,675 people. Out of total infected cases, about 330,590 people are said to have recovered but contagious virus is continuing to disrupt lives across world.

After originating from a Chinese 'wet market' in Wuhan, vel coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic has w spread to 209 countries and has infected at over 1.5 million people in matter of weeks. US, which has overtaken China in number of positive cases, has emerged as latest epicenter of pandemic with 4,54,602 cases and 16,074 deaths.
