PCB fears backlash, tries pacifying PSL 2020 franchises to not be dragged to court

The Ehsan Mani-led Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is under trouble related to the financial dilemmas of all Pakistan Super League 2020 franchises.

t too long ago, many Pakistan cricket fans were jubilant over news of Pakistan Super League (PSL 2020) getting underway from on Saturday, vember 14. However, w it looks like even before commencement of PSL 2020, Ehsan Mani-led Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in trouble related to financial dilemmas of all PSL 2020 franchises. PCB were initially set to host entire PSL 2020 season earlier this year. However, ongoing coronavirus crisis forced a delay just before playoffs st.

PCB dragged to court by PSL 2020 franchises

Earlier, ESPNCricinfo h reported that all PSL 2020 franchises have filed a petition in Lahore High Court against PCB as y are currently “unhappy” with Board over franchise model of PSL 2020 tournament. As per report, worry for franchises is that model related to tournament enables growth of Pakistan cricket revenues, leaving franchises high and dry to incur losses each season.

owners of Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gliators, Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi and Islamab United have claimed in ir petition that y h lost billions of rupees since inception of tournament in absence of a viable financial model.

PCB looking for out of court settlement

According to PTI, a source close to story has revealed that PCB is looking to solve matter outside court despite PCB’s legal team taking a strong stance on petition filed by owners. source furr said that PSL is one of its most successful brands and looking at existing ecomic condition in Pakistan and globally, sale of franchises is difficult if situation goes out of control. source also revealed that board is using outside channels to convince franchise owners to withdraw ir petition with assurances being given to m that PCB is willing to sit down with m and dress ir grievances.

PSL 2020 new schedule

Speaking about PSL 2020 new schedule, Ehsan Mani-led board recently anunced schedule for kckout rounds.  matches will be held behind closed doors considering COVID-19 pandemic. However, situation will be analysed once again during October before taking final call. remaining four playoffs matches of PSL 2020 will be played at Gdafi Stium in Lahore on 14, 15 and 17 vember as per PCB's press release. 

Pay hike for domestic cricketers 

While PCB is looking to control issue related to PSL 2020., Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan h previously declared about bringing changes in Pakistan cricket structure. According to a recent development, PCB is giving an 83% hike in pay to its domestic cricketers. Ahe of Pakistan's 2020-21 domestic season which begins on September 30, PCB has anunced a new pay structure, which will help players earn more than seven per cent of what y received in 2019-20 season.
