Piyush Chawla names India's ODI World Cup squad, leaves out R Ashwin's choice for no.4

The Indian cricket team has the best chance to bring the ODI World Cup back home after a gap of 12 years as the event returns to India after 2011

The Indian cricket team is yet to announce its provisional squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. The Indian selection committee will pick up the probable team for the upcoming 50-over major ICC event on the basis of the players selected for the Asia Cup 2023. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have made their way back to the team and will represent the 'Men in Blue' in the multination Asian tournament starting from August 30, 2023.

Piyush Chawla drops R Ashwin's choice for number 4 in his World Cup squad 

Indian cricket team leg spinner Piyush Chawla while speaking on Star Sports has come up with his squad for the ODI World Cup 2023. Chawla came up with major surprises while choosing his ODI World Cup 2023 squad and has left out Shreyas Iyer. Iyer is expected to play at the most debated number four position in the upcoming major ICC tournament. Chawla has included Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav for the number four slot and has gone with Yuzvendra Chahal in place of Axar Patel. Shreyas Iyer was the top pick for the number four position for the many Indian cricketers, which also includes veteran spinner R Ashwin.

Indian team's chances in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 

The Indian cricket team have the best chance to end their 10-year-old drought of not winning an ICC title in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. The tournament has returned to India after a gap of 12 years and the last time the 'Men in Blue' lifted the trophy under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
