Prithvi Shaw posts video of version 2.0 of himself, vows comeback soon

One of India's finest and youngest openers Prithvi Shaw vowed to make a comeback soon to the field as he turned 20 years of age on Saturday. India's U-19 World Cup-winning captain was handed an eight-month back-dated suspension for consuming a cough syrup that had terbutaline, a prohibited substance. With Prithvi Shaw's ban ending soon, fans are eagerly waiting to see the promising opener return to action. On his 20th birthday, Prithvi Shaw took to his Twitter handle to post a video of himself training in the nets. Vowing to make a comeback soon, Prithi Shaw assured fans that they would see a version 2.0 of himself when he returns.

Prithvi Shaw's anti-doping violation

Shaw's doping test had taken place on February 22 in Indore and his sample tested positive for Terbutaline which is on WADA's list of prohibited substances. He was charged under the BCCI's anti-doping rules on July 16, 2019, and responded by admitting the violation but asserted that it was inadvertent as it has resulted from him taking an over-the-counter medication for his cough. His eight-month period of ineligibility was deemed to have begun on March 16, 2019, and will run till November 15.

Prithvi Shaw set to return to action soon

Prithvi Shaw, who made the headlines with a century on his debut Test in October last year, has been training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru the past months. While accepting the ban, Prithvi Shaw had promised to return stronger because he loved the game and wanted to play for India and Mumbai. It seems his team Mumbai is eager to have him back. Prithvi Shaw has claimed that he has inadvertently consumed the cough syrup during the Mushtaq Ali Trophy in February-March, 2019. BCCI, in its verdict, had said that Prithvi Shaw would have to serve at least half of the ban period. The period expires on November 15.
