Prithvi Shaw set to return in action during Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

According to news ncies, Shaw is expected to play in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy – domestic T20 tournament. BCCI gave Shaw an eight-month back-dated suspension for consuming a cough syrup that had terbutaline, a prohibited substance. Shaw has claimed that he has inadvertently consumed cough syrup during Mushtaq Ali Trophy in February-March, 2019. BCCI, in its verdict, had said that Shaw would have to serve at least half of ban period. period expires on vember 15.

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw, who made headlines with a century on his debut Test in October last year, has been training at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru past months. While accepting ban, Shaw had promised to return stronger because he loved game and wanted to play for India and Mumbai. It seems his team Mumbai is er to have him back.

Chairman of State's ad-hoc selection committee Milind Rege said that Prithvi Shaw would undoubtedly be considered during selection process. By time Shaw becomes eligible to participate, Mumbai will have played six of ir seven group st games. However, on bright side, Mumbai has only anunced squad for first three matches as some of its key players are currently on India duty for T20I against Bangladesh.

Rege told a sports website that since Prithvi Shaw will be eligible to play from vember 16, he could make team. He, however, refused to guarantee Shaw's return. Rege said that Shaw was focusing on training, which was right thing to do at moment. Rege said that Shaw had proved his mettle as a match-winner during short time he played for Mumbai and India. He said se attributes would weigh in Shaw's favour during selection. But Rege emphasised that Shaw's accomplishments would t earn him a free pass. He will still have to compete for a spot on team, selector said.
