India’s batting sensation had a day to forget in the England Domestic One-Day Cup

Indian batting star Prithvi Shaw's Northamptonshire debut ended in a shocking hit wicket dismissal after reaching 34 runs. Shaw failed to deal with a bouncer from Paul van Meekeren in the England Domestic One-Day Cup 2023 Group B match against Gloucestershire. He lost his balance while attempting a pull shot and accidentally kicked the stumps, resulting in his release on the final ball of the 16th over. In his first outing for Northants, the gifted young cricketer had a dismal start.

After Prithvi Shaw represented India in 2021, his international career encountered a roadblock. He was a member of the team for the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, although he wasn't in the starting lineup. He had a poor run with the Delhi Capitals during the IPL 2023 season, which led to his midseason exclusion from the squad. His circumstances did not improve. Shaw experienced a difficult time with few opportunities, which hindered his career in both domestic and international cricket.

What are Prithvi Shaw’s latest comments on his decision to play in ENG?

In preparation for his county debut, Prithvi Shaw stated that he does not believe it is the right time to make substantial alterations to his game. At this point, it looks that he is concentrating on maintaining consistency rather than experimenting with substantial changes to his playing approach. Shaw appears to prioritise consistency and steadiness in his approach as he prepares for his cricket duties with Northamptonshire. Talking to CricBuzz, he stated:

“I don’t think it will be the right time to make any adjustments to my game now,”  “Whatever adjustments I had to make to my game, has already been done. Once I go there and get my eyes set, I just need to play my natural game,”

Prithvi Shaw, 23, has joined the Northamptonshire Steelbacks, along with David Willey and Andrew Tye, under the direction of the county's head coach, John Sadler. At the age of 18, Shaw had a dream debut for his international career by making a century against the West Indies. Since then, though, the gifted young cricketer has struggled and has only been able to play for India in four more Test matches and seven white-ball matches, which include six ODIs and one T20I. His road in international cricket has been difficult, and he now anticipates having an effect while playing for Northamptonshire in the county.
