When Joe Root scored his 34th Test century, he broke Alastair Cook's record of scoring the most Test Centuries for England. Alastair Cook with his 33 test centuries had held the record for scoring the most test centuries for the longest time.

It was a record that didn't feel like it would be beaten, but Joe Root's incredible run of form in the past few years means the record has now been broken. The 33-year old is now also just 5 test centuries away from becoming the player with fourth most test centuries in history of cricket.
