In a thrilling last-over match, Captain Mahmudullah finished off in style as Bangladesh beat India in the first T20 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi by 7 wickets. This was also Bangladesh's first victory against the Men in Blue in T20 cricket. The much-speculated match owing to the high pollution levels in Delhi witnessed a low-scoring but a spectacular show from the Bangladesh team as they took the match up till the last over to hand India defeat in the first match of the three-match T20 series.

Mushfiqur Rahim fires for Bangladesh

After losing Liton Das early off Deepak Chahar's delivery, debutant Mohammad Naim got Bangladesh off to a great start. Yuzvendra Chahal after being introduced did not take long to help India gain momentum as he dismissed the debutant.
Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of Indian bowlers as he put tremendous pressure on the Bangladesh players and had them earn their runs with utter difficulty. Soon after Naim's dismissal, Soumya Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim stitched an important partnership to steady the Tiger's ship. However, Khaleel Ahmed scalped Soumya Sarkar on the last ball of the 17th over to get India back into the game. Mushfiqur Rahim was granted a lifeline in 18th over as Krunal Pandya dropped his catch off Chahal's delivery. With 20 to get off the last two overs, Mushfiqur Rahim hit Khaleel for 4 consecutive boundaries to grab the match from India. With just 4 runs needed off the last over, Mahmudullah took Bangladesh home on the fourth delivery with a six.

Sundar, Pandya take India to 148

Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah Riyad won the toss and decided to bowl first. India got off to a good start as they managed 10 runs in the first over. However, it was Shafiul Islam who had the last laugh when he trapped Rohit Sharma plumb in front of the wicket. After Dhawan was sent back, debutant Shivam Dube failed to impress as he could only manage one run. Even Rishabh Pant managed to make an impact but could not convert into a big score. However, Washington Sundar and Krunal Pandya had other ideas as they made the most of it in the final overs. Sundar played a stellar cameo of an unbeaten quickfire 5-ball 14 which included a couple of big ones and a huge six by the elder Pandya off the last ball of the innings helped India get to a decent total of 148/6 in their 20 overs.
