Ratan Tata, the beloved national icon passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday night, a top police official told PTI. The news of Ratan Tata's demise has left the nation in a state of mourning. While the speculations of his deteriorated were doing the rounds, Ratan Tata himself took to his Instagram account and dismissed them. Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of one of India's biggest conglomerates, Tata Sons in his social media post said that he was undergoing routine medical investigations due to his age.

'It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation',  said N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons, in a late night statement.

Cricket and India are synonymous to each other and all of it started, the craze for the sport doubled, when India won the 1983 Cricket World Cup in England. They were times, when the Indian Cricket Team wasn't making a lot of money and at times. An athlete's life demands discipline and they are always boosted by finances. This was the time when the TATA Group came forward and employed many players from India's 1983 World Cup Squad.4

Not only this, Ratan Tata also had fruitful association with India's legendary captains MS Dhoni (Indian Airlines), Sourav Ganguly (Tata Steel) and Dilip Vengsarkar (Tata Power).
