With BGT series fast approaching, Ravi Shastri spoke of Rishabh Pant's miraculous comeback to game. former cricketer revealed that he visited stumper in hospital and deemed his recovery from car accident a 'miracle' as he was uncertain about wicketkeeper-batter's future.

“Honestly, if you h seen him you would not have given him a hope in hell to play cricket again. I will never forget it. He was in terrible shape. I went to see him in hospital a month after he was injured. He was battered and bruised, scarred all over. He h a massive operation and h stitches all over place. From re to simply recover and play cricket was a miracle. To n go on and play in a World Cup-winning team and be a part of Test team is a truly remarkable achievement.
“He returns to Australia for this tour in form, and a man Australia fears, an unthinkable prospect when he was bailed up in hospital unable to walk. When you speak to him now, respect he has for game is even more. He was nowhere. Suddenly, he is back, and he values that. But I have seen him work really, really hard over past few months to get in to shape he is to play Test cricket," Ravi Shastri was quoted as saying by news.com.au.

In December 2022, Rishabh Pant was travelling from New Delhi to his hometown of Roorkee when he was involved in a terrible car accident. He might have passed away in collision if it wasn't for some strangers and his presence of mind, which led him to smash windscreen to get out of burning car.

Pant returned to red-ball cricket through Duleep Trophy after making a comeback to white-ball cricket during IPL 2024 season. He also played in India's most recent home Test series against New Zealand and Banglesh.
