Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jeja became quickest left-arm bowler to pick 200 wickets in Test cricket on October 4. On third day of ongoing test match between India and South Africa, in Vishakhapatnam, Cheteshwar Pujara reportedly took a brilliant catch of Dean Elgar at deep-midwicket to help Jeja bag his 200th wicket overall and his second wicket of match. Jeja who plays for Saurashtra in first-class cricket me his test debut for India back in 2012 against England.
Jeja dismisses Elgar to pick 200th wicket
Playing his 44th test match, Jeja broke record of fastest left-arm bowler to pick 200 test wickets which was previously held by Sri Lankan spinner Rangana Herath, who h achieved feat in 47 matches. With this, Jeja also became 10th Indian to bag 200 test scalps. Jeja dismissed Dane Piedt on day one to pick his first wicket of match and in 100th over of match, he went on to dismiss Dean Elgar, who played a solid innings of 160, to bag his 200th scalp.

India put up a massive total of 502/7 in first innings of game before Captain Kohli declared innings. Rohit Sharma who opened innings for first time ever tched up 176 runs whereas his partner on or end, Mayank Agarwal earned his maiden double century before departing for 215. By end of second India h reduced South Africa to 39/3 courtesy of two wickets by Ashwin and one by Jeja. On third day, Dean Elgar and Quinton de Kock uplifted South African spirits with both of m scoring 160 and 111, respectively. At end of third day, South Africa trail by 117 runs with two days of play still to go.
