Former skipper Ricky Ponting had revealed his favourite World Cup triumph and what had made it special while interacting with a fan on social media recently

Ricky Ponting has been one of best captains in world cricket and was also one of finest batsmen during his playing days. He led mighty Australians to two consecutive World Cup triumphs in 2003 & 2007 and was also a part of Steve Waugh-led squad in 1999 edition where y won ir second world title. Meanwhile, three-time world champion went on to talk about his most favourite triumph as a skipper.

While interacting with fans on social media, Ricky Ponting went on to say that it was ir glorious triumph in 2007 edition in West Indies which was his favourite moment. Ponting n mentioned that in 2007 when y had landed in Caribbean,  overriding sentiment from media and public was that ir team and certain players in our team were way past ir best. However, Ponting & Co. proved m wrong with yet ar undefeated campaign.

In final Australia went on to beat Mahela Jayawardene's Sri Lanka by 53 runs (D/L Method) to win ir record fourth World Cup. Ponting, who had scored a match-winning unbeaten 140 in 2003 final against India could only man 37 in 2007 summit clash as Adam Gilchrist starred for Aussies with 149.  Gilchrist was adjudged Man of Match while Glenn McGrath was named Player of Tournament. 

However, Australia's 12-year dominance in world cricket ended during 2011 edition when y lost to eventual champions India in quarterfinals. Aussies n went on to win ir fifth World Cup in 2015 in ir own backyard under reign of Michael Clarke. neless, y could t retain title in 2019 as y finished as semi-finalists.
