Rohit Sharma heads to the gym to get fit for Asia Cup, uploads video of his fun workout

Rohit Sharma is all set to lead India in two big-name tournaments this year. His first assignment will come in the form of the Asia Cup 2023, followed by the ICC Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be held in India. India will aim to win both the 50-over competitions given that the Men in Blue have failed to secure any major trophy in the past several years.

Rohit Sharma sweats it out in the gym

Getting ready for the upcoming Asia Cup, set to kick off on August 31, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma demonstrated his commitment by sharing a gym workout video on Friday.

In a video posted on his Instagram account, he can be observed engaging in some stretching exercises and moderate-intensity weightlifting, all while enjoying some light-hearted moments with those around him. The 36-year-old also took the opportunity to snap a few photos with young individuals.

Rohit was last seen in action during the recent three-match ODI series against the West Indies, where he participated solely in the first match. Meanwhile, all-rounder Hardik Pandya has taken up the mantle of leading the Indian team in the ongoing five T20Is against the Windies. Jasprit Bumrah will captain Team India in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland in the absence of Rohit.

Rohit displayed impressive form in the two-match Test series against the West Indies, amassing 240 runs from 3 innings at an average of 80. He scored one century and two half-centuries in those games. 

However, the Asia Cup looms as a substantial trial for Rohit Sharma, both on an individual level and as a leader of the team. This tournament holds significance as it will gauge his personal and team's performance in preparation for the impending ODI World Cup.
