One would have imagined then T20 captain Rohit Sharma would have held back Jasprit Bumrah for the death against South Africa in the final, but then, he surprised them all. Bumrah was brought in early and that changed the course of the game with South Africa left with 16 to win off the final over. Eventually, India won the game and the title. Former India batting coach Vikram Rathour goes on to lavish praise on Rohit, who is often misunderstood as he forgets things, like his personal belongings. Rathour claims Rohit may forget his mobile phone and i-Pad, but he will never forget the gameplan.

Here is What Rathour Said…
“He might forget whether he has decided to bat or bowl at the toss, or his phone and iPad in the team bus but he never forgets his gameplan. He is very good at it and is a very shrewd tactician,” former Team India batting coach Vikram Rathour said in a podcast “Find a Way with Taruwar Kohli.”
“He is tactically very good as a captain. In the T20 World Cup final, he finished Bumrah’s over early. A lot of people must have questioned that decision but that decision put us in the situation, where 16 was needed in the last over.
“His tactical decisions on the field are spot on. Sitting outside It surprises you as a coach as well. We from outside sometimes think what he is doing but then you realise what he has done after a while,” Rathour said further.
What's Up With Hitman?
Rohit, who has retired from T20I cricket after India's World Cup triumph recently, was a part of India's ODI team for the series against Sri Lanka. He would be leading the side in the Test series against Bangladesh in September as well. Meanwhile, there is much speculation over Rohit's IPL future after Mumbai Indians debacle in 2024.
