India's stand-in skipper for the T20 series against Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma helped India level the three-match series in the second T20 at Rajkot. Along with taking the team home, the 32-year-old bagged the record of hitting the most number of sixes in T20Is as captain. Speaking about the same in a rather informal interview with the spinner Yuzvendra Chahal on Chahal TV, Sharma revealed the secret for hitting those groundbreaking sixes. Highlighting the importance of timing the ball, Rohit said,

"You don't need a huge body and muscles to hit big sixes. Even you (Chahal) can hit sixes. Power is not the only thing you need to hit sixes, you need timing as well. The ball should hit the middle of the bat and your head should be still. When you're playing on a good wicket, if you keep these things in mind, sixes can be easily hit," Rohit Sharma added.

Importance of a Good Start

With a target of 153, India looked determined to level the series 1-1 in the second T20. India got off to a brilliant start as the opening pair added 63 runs in the powerplay itself. Rohit Sharma notched up his half-century off just 23 balls, which was also the second-fastest half-century of his career. Sharma further stated that a good start is essential for the team along with one batsman playing long innings.

"A good start was important for the team and one batsman playing a long innings was also important. We have seen often that if a batsman plays long innings, the team wins, more often than not. I was a bit disappointed to get out at the wrong time. However, I am very happy about the team's performance because we were under a bit of pressure ahead of the Rajkot match," Rohit said.

"We were under a bit of pressure because we had lost the first match but we did everything that was needed. Obviously we can always do better," he added.
