Selection committee chairman MSK Pras has hinted that Rohit Sharma can be accommodated into Indian Test playing XI in opening slot at a time when K L Rahul's form has become a "cause of concern". India ODI vice-captain Rohit has been in sublime form of late but despite being in squ, he sat out of two-Test series in West Indies. He has usually played in Tests as a middle-order batsman but with success of Ajiknkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari in Caribbean, it is more likely that he can come into team as an opener, a position in which he has excelled in shorter formats. Rohit Sharma h smashed five hundreds in recently concluded World Cup.

MSK Pras hints at Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul's future

"As selection committee, we haven't met after conclusion of West Indies tour. We will definitely take this (Rohit as an opener) point into consideration when we all meet and discuss it," said Pras, a former India wicketkeeper.  "KL (Rahul) is definitely a great talent. Of course, he is going through a bit of a tough time in Test cricket. We are definitely concerned about his form. He needs to spend more time on wicket and regain his touch and form," he said.

Rahul looked tentative at crease throughout West Indies series in which he scored 13, 6, 44, 38. On Kuldeep Chahal and Yuzvendra Chahal t being part of T20 squ for West Indies series as well as for upcoming home series against South Africa, Pras insisted that y remain in ir plans for T20 World Cup in Australia next year. Rahul Chahar and Washington Sundar are part of T20 squ for South Africa series beginning in Dharamsala on September 15. y both also travelled to Caribbean last month. "In order to bring variety in spin bowling department, we have been trying youngsters keeping in view T20 World Cup. Chahal and Kuldeep have been outstanding performers in shorter formats in last two years. y are definitely ahe in race w. It's just that we are trying a few or options w," ded Pras.
