Ross Taylor was a happy man after having anchored New Zealand's run chase against India and having helped his team get past finish line this time around during first ODI at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Wednesday. He scored a match-winning century and ded 138 runs for fourth wicket stand with stand-in captain Tom Latham. His unbeaten 84-ball 109 helped Kiwis take a 1-0 le. He was named Man of Match for his blistering kck.

Taylor on New Zealand's approach in 50-overs format

"It's always nice to win after a clean sweep in T20. Obviously new personnel came in and loss was t a hang-up for m. I am sure it must have played on ir minds a little bit, you are human, and towards end, we lost a couple of wickets," Taylor said at post-match press conference.   

"But at same time, last game was our World Cup final and a lot of guys have played in pressure situations. y are a lot more experienced than T20 side. So that showed, but it is only one game and lots to go in this series. It is nice to get that monkey off back," he said.

New Zealand hold ir nerves 

 New Zealand began ir run-chase confidently with an 85-run opening partnership. Veteran batsman Ross Taylor brought up his 21st hundred in ODIs by scoring 109* from just 84 balls. Apart from Taylor, Henry Nicholls (78), and Tom Latham (69) also contributed ir part with bat in New Zealand’s successful run-chase.

two teams will w collide in  second game of three-match series on  Saturday. match will be played at Eden Park in Auckland and action will commence at 7:30 AM IST. This is a must-win contest for India in order to stay alive in series. third and final ODI will be played on February 11 at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.
