Duleep Trophy: India C captain Ruturaj Gaikwad 's knock lasted merely two balls before he picked up an injury and had to retire hurt. Being the premier batter of the side, the onus was on him to get his side off to a good start. But he was unfortunate on Thursday as he had to leave the ground after twisting his ankle during their match against India B. There is no official update of the game, but social media reports suggest that Ruturaj hit the first ball for a boundary to get off-the-mark and off the very next ball he twisted his ankle. He left the ground grimacing in pain. No much is known about the nature of the injury, but going by reactions on social space, the injury should not be too concerning and he should be fit to bat in the second essay.

Once Gaikwad left, Rajat Patidar walked in and joined Sai Sudarshan. The absence of Gaikwad did not hurt India C much as Patidar and Sudarshan stitched a 92-run stand to steady the ship. Patidar was eventually bowled by Navdeep Saini for 41. Off the very next over, Mukesh Kumar got rid of the set Sudarshan for 43 runs.

Gaikwad did not score big in the first Duleep Trophy game where he registered scores of five and 46.
