Sanath Jayasuriya Appointed Sri Lanka Cricket Coach on Two-Year Contract

Former cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as coach of Sri Lankan cricket team on a two-year contract. He h been interim coach of side for series against India, England, and New Zealand. Jayasuriya's appointment comes into effect from 1 October and runs until 31 March, 2026, Sri Lanka Cricket said in a social media post.

Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket me this decision taking into consideration team’s good performances in recent tours against India, England, and New Zealand, where Jayasuriya was in charge as ‘interim he coach.’.

appointment came into effect on October 1, 2024, and will remain until March 31, 2026.

In brief period that Jayasuriya has been in charge of side, Sri Lanka defeated India 2-0 in ODIs, and also beat New Zealand 2-0 in Test series. only defeat came against England 1-2, but not before giving m a stiff competition.
