Sanath Jayasuriya Appointed Sri Lanka Cricket Coach on Two-Year Contract

Former cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as the coach of Sri Lankan cricket team on a two-year contract.

Former cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as coach of Sri Lankan cricket team on a two-year contract. He h been interim coach of side for series against India, England, and New Zealand. Jayasuriya's appointment comes into effect from 1 October and runs until 31 March, 2026, Sri Lanka Cricket said in a social media post.

In brief period that Jayasuriya has been in charge of side, Sri Lanka defeated India 2-0 in ODIs, and also beat New Zealand 2-0 in Test series. only defeat came against England 1-2, but not before giving m a stiff competition.

Sri Lanka's recent Test series sweep over New Zealand saw m cement third place on current World Test Championship standings, with last year's finalists India and Australia now only two teams ahe of island nation.
