Legendary Sri Lankan stumper Kumar Sangakkara has revealed that the IPL 2020 will secure the livelihood of all the people that are associated with the game

Kumar Sangakkara has said that IPL 2020 will secure livelihood for all people who are associated with game that include players, groundsmen, broadcasters, etc.  13th edition of cash-rich event will be held in UAE from September 19 to vember 8. complete fixture of tournament will be anunced by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) next week.

“w, we see effects of Covid-19 pandemic in way cricket is played in bio-secure environments and at closed stadia where public has access. But fact that millions around world have access to sporting spectacles through TV, streaming devices has a huge positive impact in terms of mindset, in terms of mental wellbeing, in terms of inspiring young people to take up this wonderful sport", said Sangakkara while speaking to India Today.

“Also, like you said, everyone whose livelihood is connected to this. t just players, but also service providers, broadcasters and journalists, even groundsmen and groundswomen around world, everyone who is connected, it has a huge positive impact. And especially, for UAE, if IPL is played re, kck-on effect on local ecomy re will be extremely huge. For cricketers, and everyone connected to that, it will be a huge sigh of relief that, yes ir livelihood is secure,” legendary wicket-keeper batsman added.

IPL 2020 to be held in UAE

With ICC T20 World Cup being postponed, sources have confirmed that much-anticipated IPL 2020 is all set to begin on September 19 in UAE. 13th edition of cash-rich tournament, which was postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic, will be held till vember 8. franchises will travel to Middle-Eastern country 25 days before first match to enter bio-secure bubble. 

seventh season of IPL, in 2014, was held in UAE where Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerged as champions. A part of tournament was held outside India due to 2014 General elections being held at same time. This will be third time IPL will be hosted outside country.  2009 edition was entirely held in South Africa due to 2009 General Elections. tournament was won by w-defunct Deccan Chargers who had beaten Royal Challengers Bangalore in a low-scoring thriller.
