IND vs ZIM 5th T20I: Team India-led by Shubman Gill are currently stationed in Zimbabwe to play a five-match T20I series. This is their last assignment as a group before the start of the Gautam Gambhir era. The young Indian team were rocked by a valiant and high-spirited Zimbabwe in the first match of the series, but the 'Blue Brigade' registered a stellar comeback and won three consecutive matches to take an unassailable lead in the series.

With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retiring from the T20Is after India's successful World T20 campaign has left a major void in India's cricket team and Gautam Gambhir will have to work towards it. The current Indian head coach Gambhir will also have to determine India's captain for the 2026 T20 World Cup. As far as the Tests and ODIs are concerned, Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the Indian team in those formats.

Before the start of the IND vs ZIM 5th T20I, Sanju Samson was asked about what India were trying to achieve from the ongoing series, to which India had a very subtle answer. Sanju also dropped hints about how he is as a captain. 'We might be making some changes, there might be some shuffle in the batting order, hoping to get some time in the middle. (IPL experience) I have been leading RR for the last four years. There have been some legends. I take care of legends and youngsters. You understand cricket a bit more. When you are a captain, you think about other players and other teams as well. I have been getting better.', said Samson.

Sanju Opens Up On India's Second T20 World Cup Win

Sanju Samson travelled with the Indian team to the USA and West Indies for the T20 World Cup, but did not get a game. Samson was specifically asked about his experience to which he said that he can't stop smiling since June 29, 2024. 'The emotions are still going through. The photos are still around. It was an unbelievable experience. I couldn't stop smiling. Very fortunate to be part of the team. Credit to everyone who contributed. It was a complete team effort.' added Sanju
