Seamer Mohammed Shami Set to Make a Splash for Bengal in Ranji Trophy Ahead of Team India Comeback

As Team India's schedule heads into the red-ball series, all eyes are now locked on when the senior players will be returning to action. For the most part, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah have been fit for action. All eyes are now on Mohammed Shami, who is yet to feature in action this year. Mohammed Shami Update: Star speedster to be in domestics before joining Team India
Mohammed Shami, the 34-year-old Indian seamer, is expected to make a comeback soon. But before donning the BCCI crest, the star player will reportedly feature in the Ranji Trophy for his domestic side Bengal. Shami will participate in one or both of Bengal's first away Ranji match on October 11 against Uttar Pradesh and its next Ranji match on October 18 against Bihar in Kolkata.
With the New Zealand Tests also set to take place at the same time, the speedster could make a national comeback during the series. As one of India's finest seamers, the BCCI will not take any chance to aggravate his injury, hence he was not featured in the Duleep trophy squads, despite the anticipation. seamers would be key for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy down under and the speed trio of Shami, Siraj and Bumrah would be vital.

Mohammed Shami has been out of action after he underwent ankle surgery in the UK and was said to remain out of action for a minimum time frame of six months. But the speedster has been gearing up for a comeback at the NCA in Bengaluru and has been showing his recovery process over the social media platform Instagram. Shami last featured for Team India at the 2023 ICC Men's ODI World Cup Final against Australia and has taken 229 wickets so far. It includes 64 Test wickets with six five-wicket and 12 four-wicket hauls.
