Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag reopened controversial call of n skipper MS Dhoni to drop top three from Indian side, owing to fitness issues during 2011-12 series against Australia. Spearheading transition to a younger Indian side, MS Dhoni had taken harsh call to drop Sehwag, Gambhir, and Tendulkar from ODI side, giving rise to speculations that Captain Cool had effectively ruined career of Sehwag. MS Dhoni had himself admitted that he had taken call to drop se cricketers from side - a piece of news that came as a huge shocker for Indian cricket fans.

Speaking to a cricketing website, Virender Sehwag revealed that MS Dhoni had never conveyed to m directly about 'slow fielders' claim during Australia tour and that had to find out from press. Sehwag furr alleged that Dhoni spoke about it to press and t at team meetings and that it was only mentioned that Rohit Sharma would act as an opener according to rotational policy followed by team. Drawing a comparison of snub with Pant's situation with team at moment, Sehwag said that it was wrong if same thing was happening to Pant. Rishabh Pant has been left out of Indian side ever since he went down with a concussion and KL Rahul took over additional responsibility as keeper, excelling with both bat and gloves. Pant, who was previously viewed as successor to MS Dhoni and side's first-choice wicketkeeper, suddenly finds himself out of picture, with KL Rahul emerging as frontrunner to keep his place in side.
