South Africa is the most difficult country to play Test cricket: Shardul

Shardul Thakur has revealed what he views as the most significant challenge in Test cricket. As Team India prepares for the upcoming Boxing Day Test against the Proteas, Shardul Thakur's observations shed light on a crucial factor that may influence the game's outcome.

Shardul Thakur was straightforward in discussing the formidable challenges posed by Test cricket in South Africa. Recognizing the unpredictable nature of the pitch conditions, Thakur underscored the importance of adaptability, asserting that predicting the playing surface's nature across the country is a challenging task.

“I think South Africa is one of the most difficult countries to play Test cricket in. Considering the pitch conditions, even if we play all over the country, this is one country where you can’t expect what you will get from the pitch, so it’s very important to go out there play the game, and on the game day, you judge the conditions of the pitch, of the ground, and how it is and put yourself in a position to give your best according to that,” Shardul Thakur said in a conversation with Ravichandran Ashwin.
