Shikhar Dhawan: 'Perfect time for youngsters to build confidence'
Shikhar Dhawan, on Saturday, said that this is the perfect time for youngsters in the Indian side to build their confidence prior to the ICC T20 World Cup.

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, on Saturday, said that this is the perfect time for youngsters in the Indian side to build their confidence prior to the ICC T20 World Cup next year. While speaking to the media, Dhawan said that youngsters like Washington Sundar and Deepak Chahar have performed really well and this is the perfect opportunity for them to build their confidence to give a boost to their performance before the T20 World Cup. He also stressed on the importance of communication in the team while playing and said that the senior players are always there for youngsters. The ICC T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in Australia from October 18 to November 15 next year.
'Sundar & Chahar have impressed,' says Dhawan
Dhawan, who is currently a part of the Indian team hosting South Africa for 3 T20s and 3 tests spoke to the media on the eve of the third T20 International against SA at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. He credited both the youngsters, Sundar and Deepak Chahar, for their recent performance and said that, "Both players have impressed in recent times with their performance and attitude. Washington is bowling really good, giving us the breakthroughs and also choking the batsmen. He has got very good control and variety as well. Even Deepak Chahar, he swings the ball both ways and at the same has pace as well. It is the perfect platform for them to perform and build confidence for the T20 World Cup."
Gabbar stresses on communication while playing
Dhawan, who is known as 'Gabbar', also said that the senior players of the Indian cricket team are always ready to help the youngsters. "For senior players like us, say someone like Rishabh comes in to bat or Shreyas coming in, we make sure we do the communication with them and make sure they are comfortable and not nervous. We make them think what is needed at that particular moment," Dhawan added. He emphasized on the need of communication while playing the game and said that that's what he does even when he is batting with senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. "Any time any youngster wants to discuss something with us, we are always there for them," Shikhar said. India's premier batsman and opener, Shikhar Dhawan has scored around 5,000 runs in ODIs and over 1300 runs in T20Is. Dhawan also plays for the Delhi Capitals team in IPL.
