Shreyas Iyer, the middle-order batsman, has suffered a significant setback in his bid to make a comeback to the Indian Test team. He has been ruled out of Mumbai's next Ranji Trophy game due to a shoulder injury, which will keep him out of action for at least a week.

Shreyas Iyer suffers injury, set to be ruled out of next Ranji Trophy game

This development comes just days after Shreyas Iyer scored a century in Mumbai's convincing nine-wicket win over Maharashtra , which had boosted his chances of a Test recall. However, the injury has now put his comeback plans on hold.

According to a report on Cricbuzz, which quoted BCCI sources, Shreyas Iyer will miss Mumbai's third Ranji Trophy game against Tripura, starting October 26 in Agartala. The exact extent of the injury is not known, but it is understood that he will need to rest for at least a week to recover.

This setback is a significant blow to Shreyas Iyer's hopes of making a comeback to the Indian Test team. Iyer has been working hard to get back into the Test team, and this injury could not have come at a worse time for him.

India and New Zealand are currently playing a three-match Test series against each other. India lost the first Test match in Bengaluru by 8 wickets to go 1-0 down in the contest. The second Test match is scheduled to be played in Pune from October 24 to 28. India will look to bounce back given their WTC final spot at stake.
