This opens up a lot of chances for youngsters in the Indian cricket team to present their case and become a mainstay in the team. India will travel to Sri Lanka for a brief ODI and T20I series under Head Coach Gautam Gambhir. While Hardik Pandya has reportedly been finalized as the leader of India's T20I side, the captain for the ODI side still remains under the wraps. Pandya has opted for a break from the ODIs and this puts KL Rahul and Shubman Gill as the contenders to be India's skipper. 'The break from ODIs is for very personal reasons. Hardik doesn't have any fitness issue as is being floated in the media', said a BCCI Source.

Shubman Gill's Claim To India's Captaincy
Youngster Shubman Gill is very new to the role of a skipper. After Hardik Pandya's exit from the Gujarat Titans, Gill was made the skipper of the franchise and looked pretty decent as the leader of the pack. Recently Gill delivered a series win for India while leading a pack of young Indian cricketers, this certainly makes him one of the contenders to be India captain.
