Shubman Gill has set the Indian cricket scene on fire through his heroics with the bat. The 20-year-old Punjab player became the youngest player to score a first-class double hundred when he scored 204 in August. He is currently a part of the Indian squad which is facing Bangladesh in the two-match Test series. He was also retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the IPL 2020 Auction.
"Would ask Neymar Jr. about his training regimen"
In an interview with a cricket website, Shubman Gill revealed details about himself including his approach towards the future and what he enjoys. Gill, who started donning the Indian jersey in 2019, talked about the pressure of international cricket. Gill explained that his practice revolves more around the factors he can control rather than factors he can not. Talking about his ease with playing fast bowling, Gill cited his attitude of playing one ball at a time. He also mentioned Australian Billy Stanlake for being the fastest bowler he has ever faced. Stanlake stands tall at 6 feet 8 inches.
Talking about Team India's captain Virat Kohli, Gill referred to him as a fun-loving personality inside the dressing room. When jokingly asked if he would offer Kohli a plate of Chole Bhature, Gill clarified that he would not even partake in trying such a thing. Virat's health-conscious nature has made him stand out, on and off the pitch. When asked about his favourite genre of music, Gill replied that 'Hip-Hop and Rap' is his favourite genre of music. He also added that he likes listening to R&B singer The Weeknd.
Finally, let us look at the sportspersons Gill adores. Gill called AB de Villiers as his favourite non-Indian cricketer. The South African legend has played against Gill in the IPL. Gill also called Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr as his favourite sportsperson outside cricket. The 20-year-old added that if he met Neymar in an elevator, he would ask the Brazilian about how he trains. Gill also expressed his desire to score a Test hundred before scoring one in the IPL or in an ODI.
India will now face Bangladesh in their first-ever Day-Night Test match at the Eden Gardens on November 22.
