England cricket team are currently on a tour to Sri Lanka to play a two-match Test series between March 19 and March 31. However, amidst rising worldwide panic caused by highly-contagious Coronavirus, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that tour has been called off. news came on aftermath when two Corona-affected cases emerged in island nation.

news comes a day after ECB revealed that tour is scheduled to go ahead as planned. ECB earlier discussed matter with England’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office to take a call on tour. decision has been taken despite fact that Sri Lanka is one of least affected nations in world when it comes to coronavirus, with just 2 confirmed cases of people testing positive across country.

Under leadership of Joe Root, England drew opening three-day match at FTZ Sports Complex in Katunayake between March 7 and 9. four-day match that followed was called off after Day 2 itself following possibility of news of tour being postponed due to Coronavirus pandemic. England captain Joe Root starred in four-day match with a classy 102 from 139 balls.
