New Zealand Cricket revealed the official squad for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, with batting all-rounder Sophie Devine leading the White Ferns in the ICC tournament. Devine's appearance in the T20 World Cup 2024 will be his ninth, and she will be aiming for the title after finishing as the runner-up on two different occasions. The White Ferns have the veteran's experience with stars like Amelia Kerr, Maddy Green, Suzie Bates and Lea Tahuhu. The team is well-balanced with pace and spin attack, which could come in handy.
Ben Sawyer, the coach of the White Ferns, feels his team is well-positioned to do well at the T20 World Cup since it has a great blend of youth and expertise.
“Congratulations to all of the players named in this squad, it’s a significant achievement to be selected to represent your country at a World Cup. I’m really pleased with this squad, I think these are our best 15 players to adapt to what will likely be varied conditions.”
“Soph and Suze have a huge amount of tournament experience from World Cups to franchise leagues, so we’ll certainly be leaning on that knowledge in what’s going to be a pretty intense competition," White Ferns Coach Ben Sawyer said as per ICC.
