CoA's role ends as Ganguly takes over reins
Sourav Ganguly is unanimous mination for post of BCCI president along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah's son Jay as secretary. Mahim Verma of Uttarakhand is new vice-president. Former BCCI president and current MoS finance Anurag Thakur's younger bror Arun Dhumal is treasurer while Kerala's Jayesh George is joint secretary. However Sourav Ganguly will have a curtailed tenure of around nine months as he would need to demit office by end of July, next year as per provisions of new constitutions, which makes 'Cooling-Off' period mandatory after six years in office. Easily one of most high profile names to assume office, Sourav Ganguly will make use of his experience gained as secretary and later president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), which will come in handy. He has set a few goals -- primary being restructuring of first-class cricket as well as getting ministration back in shape along with getting India's position of reverence back in corridors of International Cricket Council. With Conflict of Interest rules being an impediment, Sourav Ganguly will also face challenge of having quality cricketers on board as far as Cricket visory Committee (CAC) and national selection committee are concerned. Last but certainly t least, his take on cricketing policies -- Mahendra Singh Dhoni's international future, Day/Night Test cricket, permanent Test centers will also be dissected.
