The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is planning a felicitation ceremony for its outgoing President Sourav Ganguly on Friday, October 25, 2019. Ganguly is all set to take over formally as the BCCI President as per a decision taken at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai recently. According to media reports, he will be presented with a silver plaque with his face engraved in golden colour at the CAB-organized function that is scheduled to be held at the lawns of the iconic Eden Gardens ground. Mohammad Azharuddin, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh and VVS Laxman have also been invited by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for the event.
Ganguly has confirmed to a leading media portal said that he would be travelling to Kochi on Sunday, October 20 for the inaugural ceremony of the sixth edition of the Indian Super League (ISL). Being officially named the face of the ISL, he will have to attend the opening ceremony. The former Indian skipper has stepped down from the mentor position of the Indian Premier League franchisee Delhi Capitals. However, he will continue the shoot for the reality Bengal Television show Dadagiri.
CAB to bid farewell to Ganguly
The CAB will have to look for a new president in the wake of Ganguly being named the BCCI President. The newly formed apex council is all set to have a meeting, which is scheduled on Monday, October 21. The committee will be deciding a date for the elections of Ganguly's successor. Avishek Dalmiya is amongst the favourites to take over as he is the current secretary of the board.
The CAB has a lot on its platter as it is set to host a Test match between India and Bangladesh from November 22-26 and is reportedly awaiting a response for the invites they have sent to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
