Sourav Ganguly to hike domestic players' salaries upto ₹70 lakh per annum: Report

According to new reports, the BCCI is looking to implement a pay hike for domestic cricketers which can see the players being paid between ₹50-70 lakh per year.

A massive differentiator between IPL and BCCI's remaining domestic tournaments is ability to earn a large sum of money for a few weeks of cricket as compared to domestic season. Sourav Ganguly aims to change that and wants to make sport worthwhile financially for domestic cricketers, especially those who may t land up lucrative IPL contracts each season. A recent Sportskeeda report quoted an unnamed BCCI official, who claimed that players can w stand to make ₹50-70 lakh per annum just from playing domestic cricket (eg: Ranji Trophy) after new pay hikes are anunced. hike is said to be more than 200% that  erstwhile Committee of Administrators (CoA) had anunced in 2017.

report states that hikes have t been anunced yet as BCCI is working on combatting COVID-19 pandemic. However, an update can be expected soon after situation is taken care of. BCCI might have to also evaluate revenue-sharing pattern to maintain good eugh profits. move, in general, is an incentive for players to t give up on domestic cricket.

IPL 2020 postponed: BCCI to monitor situation before IPL 2020

coronavirus pandemic in India led to BCCI having IPL 2020 postponed to a date beyond April 15. COVID-19 cases in India are w reaching 5000-mark and in a situation like this, fate of IPL 2020 becomes very tough to predict. Among many reports that have emerged, one has suggested that IPL may be shelved entirely while ar one has suggested that IPL could be played instead of World T20 if latter gets cancelled. BCCI is yet to make an official anuncement on matter.
