Sourav Ganguly: Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) said they are waiting for more clarity from the BCCI on opening the Eden Gardens for training.

India entered into fourth phase of its lockdown on May 18, which will go on till May 31 due to coronavirus pandemic. However, re is a new set of guidelines issued by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), which will relax restrictions on sporting events, allowing m to resume cricketing action behind closed doors.

CAB waiting for more clarity from BCCI before opening Eden Gardens in Kolkata

On Monday, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) said y are waiting for more clarity from Sourav Ganguly-led BCCI on opening Eden Gardens in Kolkata for training after central government gave a thumbs up for resumption of sporting activities across country. MHA on Sunday had said that stadiums will be permitted to host games without spectators, which may come as a huge relief after Indian Premier League was postponed due to coronavirus pandemic that has wreaked havoc in country.

Sourav Ganguly-led board released a statement after India lockdown was extended until May 31. statement said that that board will be meticulously studying new rules issued by MHA before deciding to resume cricketing action.  statement furr read that  BCCI will study guidelines at state level and will work in sync with state cricket associations to chalk out a programme for skill-based training at a local level.

After a meeting of its office bearers via video conference, Kolkata-based CAB said that state board would wait for BCCI to study guidelines before taking a furr decision in matter. It furr said that as association would like to ensure safety of players as well as  staff, re would be a medical committee meeting via video conference on Thursday to discuss and frame protocols, parameters including guidelines to be adopted to maintain safety and hygiene in Kolkata office. CAB office, which is situated at Eden Gardens, is shut since  first phase of nationwide lockdown that began on March 25.
